Identity Theft Prevention
Protect Yourself & Your Accounts
Fraud is constantly evolving and becoming more sophisticated. Always be on guard for anything which seems suspicious.
Palmetto Citizens will never contact you by phone, text or email and ask you for your account numbers, login credentials or one time passcodes. We will also NEVER request remote access to your computer or mobile device in order to assist you.
Please be aware fraudsters can spoof any phone number to make it appear to be from Palmetto Citizens, or any company, so be suspicious of any unsolicited calls. Do not assume caller ID is correct and always be extremely cautious before providing any information.
Below are are few other ways you can help protect your personal and financial information:
- Set Up Account Alerts: Log into your account online or with our app and select 'Alerts & Notices' to set up email and/or text alerts for your account(s) based on transactions, balances and other criteria to help monitor your accounts.
- Password Safety: You should change the passwords for your online/mobile banking, email, social media and other accounts at least every few months. Always use strong passwords which are hard to guess and avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.
- Keep Your Contact Information Current: Make sure we have your correct phone numbers and addresses so we can contact you if we detect any fraudulent activity. Log into online or mobile banking and choose 'Settings' to verify your information.
- Review Your Credit Report: Checking your credit report for accuracy and fraud is always important. To make it easier, through December 2023, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are offering free weekly online reports (usually once per year) at www.annualcreditreport.com.
Should you have any questions, or you feel you have been targeted by fraudulent activity, please contact us immediately.
