For-profit institutions like Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, which were closed by regulators, may have been engaged in risky practices in order to drive profits. Since we're owned by our members, and not stockholders, our mission is different and making sure our members' money is safe is a top priority.

Palmetto Citizens is incredibly strong with over $1.3 Billion in assets. We remain well-capitalized with a high level of liquidity to meet our members' needs. Our balance sheet is much more diversified than these troubled banks.

While they were more involved in tech startups and cryptocurrency, we're focused on the financial needs of the people and small businesses right here in the Midlands. This allows us to support and better our communities, but also means rapid rate increases or other economic factors do not damage our value to nearly the same degree these banks experienced.

Your Funds Are Insured at Palmetto Citizens

Funds deposited in our credit union are federally insured by a fund backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. As the FDIC does for banks, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) insures funds up to $250,000 per depositor. A member's interest in all joint accounts combined is also insured up to $250,000 and members' IRAs are separately insured up to $250,000.
